With Jesus, Like Jesus, For Jesus

Goals and Action Plan

Review your Personal Spiritual Growth Inventory to decide on the aspect of your relationship with Jesus that you believe God is calling to your attention. For example, you may struggle with anxiety and believe God wants you to grow in your ability to trust Jesus. Your goal would be a brief statement expressing this, similar to one of the following:
  • To trust Jesus with my anxieties about money.
  • To find peace by trusting Jesus with my worries.
After you write your goal(s), you are ready to develop an action plan, which should consist of at least one specific thing you will do in the coming year to achieve each goal. You may choose two or three specific steps for each goal-but keep it as simple as possible.

For example, if your goal is "to find peace by trusting Jesus with my worries," your action plan could look like this:
  1. I will find and memorize at least two Bible promises about God's peace, protection, or provision.
  2. I will read a book about trusting Jesus or God's peace.
  3. I will find a spiritual mentor to help me trust Jesus with my worries.

PRINT YOUR GOALS and ACTION PLAN using the print option on your browser. Commit your plan to the Lord in prayer. Put it where you will see it often.  And remember that spiritual growth is the gift of God, not the product of human effort. Your action plan is merely your attempt to cooperate with what God wants to do in your life.
